Join us for panel discussions on driving policy changes in Harlem

Join us on Earth Day as we look at how the growing risks of rising temperatures, more intense storms and a history of environmental injustice continue to generate disproportionate climate impacts in communities like Harlem.  What is government doing to address these risks and how can local stakeholders partner to drive real change in policy?

Local researchers, elected officials and community leaders will come together for the following panel discussions:

-Disproportionate Climate Impacts in Harlem, moderated by Diana Hernández, Associate Professor of Sociomedical Sciences at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health

-Harlem-Led Community Solutions and Climate Justice, moderated by Mark Levine, Manhattan Borough President

This event is presented by The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Columbia University and The City College of New York, hosted by NYC & Company’s Sustainable Tourism Committee.

About the All In NYC: Embracing Diversity Webinar Series

New York City is one of the most diverse destinations in the world—a place where cultures connect and people are encouraged to be unapologetically themselves. All In NYC: Embracing Diversity is a webinar series that explores the rich cultural stories of our destination, showcases the strength of our member product and highlights the diversity of the five boroughs—the immutable spirit and infinite experiences that make visiting NYC so transformative.

Our Embracing Diversity webinar series has begun with six webinars focused on Black travel. Black culture is an integral part of the identity of NYC, the city with the largest Black population in the US. Its influence can be felt across the five boroughs in many forms: world-renowned music, a celebrated food scene, the visual and performing arts, business owners and all who lead the charge in keeping the City progressive, resilient and safe. With a unique global footprint encompassing the Caribbean, Africa and South America, the Black community also boasts its own cultural nuances that deepen the City’s diversity.

These initial six Black travel webinars will be followed up by those focused on other diverse groups in NYC. All In NYC: Embracing Diversity provides essential information for professionals looking to speak to NYC in ways that are equitable, inclusive and authentic.
